Welcome to the Internet site
of

European Civil Law (ECL)

The ECL internet site has been created to provide online free information on the principles of European Civil Law and the rules of private international law of the European Communities.

The various Regulations, playing an important role within the private international law of the EU Member States, are commented. Where appropriate, we have inserted the most important decisions of the European Court of Justice in our comment, with direct links to the full content of the Court's decision and, as far as possible, to the accompanying opinion of the Advocate-General. The following icons mean:

reference to further commentary on the issue
reference to relevant case law*)
reference to the opinion of the Advocate-General*)
